Who moved my cheese!

| More

About a year ago, I had to seriously plan my move to Boston. From selling our digs in Chicago (in a dead market, mind you), to figuring out which company to join in Boston, it wasn’t easy. As I was sitting in the office of Joel B. (one of the founders of Geneca) having really good conversation, he gave me a book. It was called “Who Moved My Cheese?: An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life”.

I have read many books on a variety of subjects, but this amazingly simple little book really impacted me. So much so, that I believe it should be required reading for anyone in a leadership position. I still have a copy of the “Handwriting on the Wall” page and look at it regularly.

In the startup world, change is constant, unpredictable, and sometimes brings harsh realities. We need to embrace it, prepare for it, and consider it a part of our daily life. If you can’t, than I see a government bureaucratic job in your future.
